The story of Confide

From 2009

Pav began his career at White Shoe and Magic Circle international law firms. He then joined fintech companies as an in-house lawyer, building their legal and compliance frameworks across Asia.

Wirecard headhunted Pav as its Head of Legal for Asia-Pacific. When he uncovered wrongdoing and his life was in danger, he was forced to speak up. His disclosures helped expose one of Europe’s largest financial frauds.

Pav’s portrait is surrounded by selected Financial Times, WIRED, and The Business Times coverage of his whistleblowing and Confide.

2020

Wirecard collapsed after €1.9 billion in reported cash could not be accounted for. Pav’s experience showed how oversight had failed and what speaking up could cost.

Pav continued working in rapidly growing fintech companies, where he hired Ryan Dougherty. Ryan had spent his career applying data science to fraud, risk, and compliance. The bespoke models and fraud detection systems he built have protected hundreds of millions of users.

Ryan follows a pattern across a transaction sheet and analytical work surface.

Each new market brought regulations to meet, risks to manage, and more reporting. Pav and Ryan bought specialist software, but their team still had to piece the answers together across systems. They built bespoke tools to do that work.

Disconnected regulatory records and separate work systems leave the team to assemble the answers.

2023

After about four years working together, they saw how AI could change the way GRC work gets done. They founded Confide to build the platform they wished they’d had: one connected system to run their entire governance, risk, and compliance program.

The scattered work assembles into one connected Confide workspace.

We launched Confide’s flagship whistleblowing software first, giving people a way to speak up.

Our investors, advisors, and team include practitioners who have dealt with these problems themselves. They have been responsible for making these processes work. They know where things go wrong and help us design the software around that experience.

October 2026

In October 2026, Confide launched its Agentic Governance Platform, bringing the full scope of governance, risk, and compliance into one AI-native system. Agents carry out the work through defined procedures, with people in control at every step.
