The problems with a phone line

Your most sensitive reports leave the building

A phone line hands whistleblowing reports to people outside your organization, and often to a call center they outsource in turn. Reports this sensitive should stay inside and be handled with care.

The operator does not know your business

They cannot know your industry, your policies and procedures, your culture or the regulations and risks that apply to you. They are equipped to ask general questions, not to get the information you need.

The record is their summary, not the report

At the end of the call the operator writes up the report in their own words and language. What reaches you can differ from what the reporter meant and how they wanted to say it.

Why teams choose Confide over a phone hotline

+50%

More reports arrive ready to investigate

Echo asks the follow-up questions an operator would, while the reporter is still in the report.

Standard setup

Most programs go live in a day. Rollouts with SSO and a history import take three to six weeks.

USD 0

Per call, minute or report

  1. Kick-off with a compliance expert

A Confide compliance expert works through how you run your program today: what works, what needs more automation and what you want it to become.

  2. Export from your hotline provider

We review what your provider holds, call summaries, case numbers, open callbacks and any files sent in, and help you get it exported.

  3. Import into Confide

We import it, map fields and open-case statuses and you check the result. One to two days, and nothing from your history is lost.

  4. Custom setup and admin training

Your dedicated Customer Success Manager configures Confide to the plan: accounts, reporting channels and workflows, with hands-on training for your admins.

  5. Testing and feedback

With the configured system in place we test it together, gather feedback and make the final adjustments so it fits the way your team works.

  6. Embedding and growth

We replace the hotline number on your posters, code of conduct and intranet with your Confide link and QR code, then help the program grow long after launch.

Whistleblower hotline FAQ

What happens to our hotline number?
You keep it until your current contract ends and run both channels side by side. Confide gives you a web link and a QR code for posters, the code of conduct and the intranet, and in-product voice reporting takes the place of the number.
Can people without a smartphone still report?
From any computer or smartphone: the web link, email, a QR code or a voice recording in the browser. There is no number to dial, so people with only a basic phone report from a shared or work computer.
What happens to open cases with callback PINs?
Open cases come across in the import with their history, attachments and status. Keep the old line open until reporters with callback PINs have been told how to reach you, then close it.
What happens to the audio?
The recording is distorted and transcribed, and the audio is securely held by Confide. Your team works from the transcript in the case, and nobody on your team hears the real voice.
Does the law require a hotline vendor, or just a channel?
A channel. Rules such as the EU Whistleblower Directive set requirements for channels, confidentiality and response times. They do not name a vendor. Obligations depend on your organization, sector and location.
What does a phone hotline do that Confide does not?
It gives people a number to dial from any phone, with a person who answers and an interpreter on the line. If your policy promises a staffed line, keep one alongside Confide.
